A White Wight

I have previously mentioned a creature that I, for lack of a better word, refer to as the Fleshgait.
The problem in getting the actual existence of this creature through to the general public seems to lie in the “invented” cryptid The Rake.
The Rake was born on a 4chan message board in 2005 where users came together to create a “new” monster. What they came up with was:

The Rake

Alright, this is for the people who like the three-eyes, no apparent mouth, pale skin one.
Here’s what we’ve got so far: Humanoid, about six feet tall when standing, but usually crouches and walks on all fours.
It has very pale skin. The face is blank. As in, no nose, no mouth. However, it has three solid green eyes, one in the middle of its forehead, and the other two on either side of its head, towards the back.
Usually seen in front yards in suburban areas. Usually just watches the observer, but will stand up and attack if approached.
When it attacks, a mouth opens up, as if a hinged skull that opens at the chin. Reveals many tiny, but dull teeth. Source

This creature, or at least something very similar, appears however to actually exist.
I’ve written about it in a post called New Cryptid on the Block and also mentioned it a few times, like in the post Masterless Tulpas.
It seems to be pale- yellow- white, with not much in the way of facial features. It’s basically humanoid in shape, lanky, stands around 5-8 feet tall when upright but seems to prefer to crawl around on all fours.
Can move very fast.
Jerky movements.
Usually bald but sometimes with stringy hair.
Its forearms are longer than those of a human, as well as its lower legs.
It is said to be able to mimic human speech.

So what is this white wight? Is it people’s imagination after hearing about the Rake? Did the “creators” of the Rake tap into the collective consciousness of humanity and find a creature people were actually seeing?

Let’s look at a few examples:

95.1%

In the Bigfoot world many are finding it hard to accept the concept of Dogman as a separate entity, not related to Bigfoots.
It’s peculiar, even knowing that most people look down on the Bigfooters and ridicule their convictions, they do the same to those witnessing a Dogman.

The Dogman believers accept the idea of it being a living, breathing, mostly physical creature. Most of them completely discount the old ideas of a physical transformation taking place since by the laws of physics that is supposedly impossible.
We are enlightened people of today, Dogman can exist as long as it behaves and does its thing within the boundaries of physical reality as we know it.

Yet constantly Dogman, and Bigfoot as well, break the shackles we try to bind them with. They disappear into thin air, they prove impervious to bullets.
Tell me then how the logical reaction to this is to ignore it? To pretend it never happened?
To keep clinging to the idea that us humans have a fairly good grip on how the universe works and anything behaving in an unnatural way is an anomaly, an anomalies are best left ignored?

All the universe, our known universe, and everything in it- suns, planets, comets, what have you-all of it amounts to 4,9% of ordinary matter.
4.9% is everything we can see, smell, touch.
The rest, 95.1%, is dark matter and dark energy.
So:
Everything we know= 4.9%
Everything we don’t know: 95.1%

Were is the Hyena

No I didn’t misspell were. 😉
Since the emergence of the modern werewolves/ dogmen onto the scene of cryptozoology, there have been quite a few details in reported sightings that seem to point to the creature in question being more that just wolf-like in nature.
I’m not going to address the more metaphysical features it is said to exhibit at this point,but rather its actual physical appearance,

Let’s start with its peculiar posture when running as a quadruped.
Very often we hear of it being described as having longer front legs than hind legs, resulting in a rather hyena-like profile, albeit significantly larger.
Dogmen are also often described as having a sort of mane or extra hairy ridge running from their shoulders down their spines, another feature reminiscent of hyenas.
There have also been descriptions, mostly from Southern California, about some of these creatures exhibiting somewhat feline qualities amidst their canine appearance. These creatures Linda Godfrey have dubbed Doberman-Lynxes.

Hyenas, though dog-like in appearance, are actually more closely related to felines.
Could there be part hyena in the dogman?

Dogman and ESP

Extra sensory perception.
What is it?
Well, it’s a collective name for perceiving something through one or more senses other than the usual five.
But do we really only have five regular senses? Is sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch all there is?
Well no.
Some neurologists claim we have nine senses, some say it’s more like 21.
Some senses fit within the boundaries of one of those five basic ones, such as touch, which also includes perception of pressure, heat and pain.
But then there are other recognized senses such as interoceptive ones, like  equilibrioception (balance, alignment, direction, acceleration, gravity), the organic sense (sense of internal condition such as hunger and thirst) and proprioception (perception of the position of body parts).

An interesting sense is one called magnetoception. It allows us to sense magnetic fields.
It can be used to get a sense of direction by picking up on the Earth’s magnetic field.
Birds have a particularly strong sense of magnetoception which allows them to migrate all across the world and still find their old nesting spots.
In humans this sense is not as strong though, and I personally think it even varies between individuals.

Egypt, Mexico and…Wisconsin…?

How vastly confusing! Where do we begin?
Let’s go with Wisconsin, shall we?

Aztalan State Park is roughly 50 miles due west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
It’s Wisconsin’s premier archaeological site and no one knows for sure what befell the culture that once thrived here.

“The people who settled Aztalan built large, flat-topped pyramidal mounds and a stockade around their village. Decades of archaeological research, including carbon dating and tooth samples found at the site that were traced back to Cahokia, have provided some clues to the culture that created these mounds. It was once a village and ceremonial complex of about 500 people that thrived between 1000 and 1300 AD before the site was mysteriously abandoned.” Source

It’s been theorized that the complex was built by Aztecs. Based for example, but not solely, on the name Aztalan itself.
The legendary ancestral home of the Aztecs is called Aztlán.
It is mentioned in several texts that the Aztecs migrated south from the city of Aztlán to Mexico where they came to settle and create their empire.

This is interesting for several reasons, but we are going to focus on the parts that are relevant to the Dogman phenomenon.

Dogmen and Native American Lore

Generally my work in this field of Dogman tends to concentrate on gathering sightings reports, mapping them and thinking an awful lot about what all of this could mean.
There are rarely any answers.
My true goal is not to gain anything, not notoriety, fame or money.
I’m looking to learn as much as I possibly can in the hope that I may be of help to people who come in contact with the phenomenon of Dogmen.
What I want to be able to say is something like:
“take a stick, smear it with tar and sprinkle on dried lavender and keep it just inside your front door to always be safe from Dogmen”.

Or in other words, I want to be able to give concrete advice, to help people protect themselves, be safe and feel safe.
And just to be clear: the tar stick won’t do you any good…
