The Banana of Safety

Now don’t tell me that title is not making you a bit curious…

The banana is actually a berry, did you know that?
Just a piece of bonus information you can use to impress your friends, but no, this post isn’t really about bananas…

It’s about Dogmen/ Werewolves. Surprise! 😛

What I’m talking about is the more or less banana-shaped area stretching roughly from Saskatchewan, Canada through the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas and parts of Texas, down toward Mexico. An area with very little going on in terms of Dogman sightings.

If I was a cryptid, where would I come from?

Cryptids come in many shapes and sizes. Colors vary, skin texture, fur or no fur, sometimes scales. Some cryptids crawl, some swim, some fly, but most sightings tend to involve cryptids with a certain similar characteristic, namely bipedalism.
Barring lake monsters and the occasional Mongolian Death Worm, most sightings seem to be of something with two legs, just like us humans.
Bigfoot, dogman/werewolves, the real chupacabras (not the US ones…), the Jersey Devil, goatmen… Even Mothman is bipedal when you think about it.
What could be the reason for this?
I don’t know, but I have three theories. They may all come across as a tad flaky but seriously, we’re dealing with things that seem to be coming straight out of people’s nightmares. I don’t see how you could possibly explain them in a cold, rational manner, unless you simply decide that all the thousands of eye witnesses are lying/ hallucinating. Which wouldn’t be an explanation at all but a cop out.

Russian slenderman/ praying mantis alien/ giant stick bug?

I’m in low activity season. Cocoon time. I just want to spank some zombies in Resident Evil and sleep a lot this time of year.
Occasionally I do go near the computer however, just to make sure I don’t miss too much.
On a forum I frequent someone posted this find from youtube. It’s a video that shows a freaky, long-limbed creature scaling the side of an apartment building at night.
Now is this the result of adobe after effects or is a flamethrower necessary?
I don’t know, you decide.
ewwwThe original (as far as I know) video was uploaded on October 6 this year and the titles claims it’s a slenderman. The slenderman legends have apparently been around in Russia since at least the early 20th century. According to the Slenderman wikia, a tall, slender man seems to play the role of a “corrector”,
who would hunt those who existed through strange means- for instance, those who were born without a father.”
Weird, huh?
According to some Russian websites that have published the video several people have gone missing from this area in the past few years, two of those pretty recently.
It’s the only video uploaded by that particular user account. What is being said in the video is apparently something along the lines of “crap, it’s climbing down” and towards the end “I think it can see us”.

The mythical, mystical Ural

The Ural Mountains
The Ural Mountains

I’ve written about the Ural Mountains in my posts about the Dyatlov Pass incident here and here, but that is not the only strange thing about the Urals.

Ancient astronauts?

Or were people of the past much more advanced than we think?

Unless we happen to be creationists we have been taught that humankind emerged through a series of evolutionary stages until the modern man called Homo sapiens sapiens was born in Africa as the crown of creation approximately 200 000 years ago.
Alternatively, humans emerged in various places from local populations of Homo erectus and Neanderthals.

The peculiar message

Reading through my Phantoms and Monsters newsletters I came upon a message that had been sent to MUFON as well as several other researchers and investigators in the years 2008-2010. So far no one has been able to find the original author. In the message “he” claims to be what we refer to as an Extra Terrestrial. Some of the wording and grammar seems a tad peculiar but all-in-all it seems very well put, and a nice idea at the very least.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident, part 1

In 1959 something strange happened in Russia. In the Ural mountain chain lies the mountain Kholat Syakhl, which in the local Mansi tongue means Mountain of the dead. The reason for this name is that 9 Mansi hunters once stayed here overnight and were all found dead later. The Mansi people believe the mountain is haunted and hence avoid it.

On the east shoulder of this Mountain of the dead, in an area later to be named the Dyatlov Pass, a group of 9 students and researchers met their strange and untimely deaths in 1959.
